THE GREEN SEASON RULES!

There is a myth about Costa Rica and Nicaragua that needs to be dispelled. The myth goes like this: “During the rainy season (roughly May-November) you can’t do or see anything because of the rain.”

Excuse our French, but that is BULL. Au contraire, there are a myriad of things to see and do precisely because it IS the “rainy season” or, as we at Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality like to refer to it, the “Green Season”. And anyone who has been to Costa Rica during this marvelous time – when nature regenerates and everything takes on a magical, exotic mystique – will heartily agree.

Yes, it rains during this time – what Ticos (Costa Ricans) or Nicas (Nicaraguans) actually call the “winter” or “invierno” – but usually not for long. It is usually sunny in the mornings allowing ample time for fun and sun on hikes or at the beach. While the rainy season makes Costa Rica or Nicaragua less intensely hot, the temperature does not drop drastically, so the rains are always warm, refreshing and therapeutic. And, the natural beauty of both countries is enhanced because everything is super lush and green.

Because the big crowds believe the myth and stay away, there are many benefits to traveling to Costa Rica or Nicaragua during “Green Season”. And these are especially intense when you visit one of our green hotels.

Here are three big reasons to visit during Green Season:

1. Cheaper airfare and lower hotel rates.

Check it out for yourself and you’ll find you can fly down to San José or Managua for less, and most hotels offer Green Season discounts. Check here for special promotions at Cayuga Sustainable Resorts and Hotels.

2. Less people at beaches and on tours.

This translates to more personalized attention and service in hotels, restaurants and on activity tours such as zip lining or kayaking. It also allows you more privacy and quality time with your partner or family.

3. More chances to see wildlife in the rainforest.

The Green Season is a perfect time of the year to observe whales or witness Turtle nesting season in the Pacific. Animals are more active because of the rain and because there are fewer people on trails. And, it’s easier to see their tracks after a rain!

Green is sexy. Green is in. Join us for an eco-getaway you won’t forget during Costa Rica’s or Nicaragua's very special Green Season.
