Cayuga Sustainable Resorts’ Gain Extraordinary Reviews

Jicaro Island Ecolodge, Nicaragua - Condé Nast Hot List 2010

Lapa Rios Ecolodge - Forbes.com & Yahoo Travel’s Hotels with the most beautiful views

Hot off the press is some extraordinary recognition for two of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality’s resorts.

The editors of CondĂ© Nast Traveler have announced their choices for hot new hotels in 2010, and Nicaragua’s Jicaro Island Ecolodge makes the list.

Showing amazing resilience, the art of hotel innovation is flourishing. We combed through the thousands that debuted in the last year, and then bedded down anonymously at the most compelling candidates. A robust 134 properties spread across a record 55 countries won a place on our list with their blend of style, service, technology, and transporting aura.

Opened in January 2010, the CondĂ© Nast review highlights the fact Jicaro Island is the first luxury eco-resort in the area, set on a private island, with “tree house chic”, attentive service, lakeside yoga decks, infinity pool and hammocks on the private balconies of the nine hand crafted casitas. San Francisco-trained Calley Prezzano is also recognized for customizing meals that using local ingredients based on guest’s preferences and the off-island excursions are recommended as not to be passed up.

Forbes.com and Yahoo Travel asked travel experts for their choice of hotels with the most beautiful views and Costa Rica’s Lapa Rios Ecolodge came out on top. Described by the experts as having something for everyone “from beach bunnies to anyone who ever wore a 'Save the Rainforest button'”, they also recommend bungalows three - eight for the best views of the surrounding rainforest and ocean. Lapa Rios is also recognized for consistently receiving the highest sustainable certification so “guests can rest easy that they're not intruding on the pristine natural surroundings.”

Lapa Rios Ecolodge on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica made the cover of the Cornell Hotel School’s Alumni magazine for the Spring 2010 issue. The owners of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality that have been involved in the management of Lapa Rios for over 10 years are graduates of the Cornell Hotel School. We are excited that Cornell as well as the Hospitality Industry in General is moving more and more towards a more sustainable tourism model. For 2011, Cayuga plans to offer seminars on Sustainability combining classroom setting with a field trip to the hotels in Costa Rica. See www.cayugaonline.com for details.

Check out the drink menu that we found on our way to the Harmony Hotel in Nosara. Nothing like a Jonnie Walter red!
